Fireplace from a
Mackintosh Design
The design and creation of these tiles has been inspired by the
drawings, architecture, and interiors of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. |
We just finished a fireplace for
a client in New York. Our client wanted to see how a Mackintosh
design would look on a fireplace in his home. Due to the size
of the fireplace we couldn't make a life-size sketch. After painting
one tile we scanned it and created some designs on the computer
(click on the thumbnail graphic to see all samples).

third option. |

Charles Rennie Mackintosh
(1868 - 1928) was arguably one of the finest designers Scotland
has ever produced. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was an architect,
designer, and artist. His styles have been seen on such diverse
items such as buildings, furniture and clothes. |
Tips for Planning your Art on
Tile work.
1) Remember the best
effects are obtained from the clear glaze color tiles such as
white, ivory, cream or bone. It is possible to paint over some
texture tiles ( Stone Look)
2) Make a list of the elements and colors you are interested
in.
3) Set a budget. To suggest a design, we need to know
how much you are willing to spend. |
