Degas, Monet, Van Gogh Painting's Lovers

Any of us who love art have had dreams about reproducing a piece of work from our favorite painters. I love when people ask me for a reproduction of
a famous artist. But at the same time, I scared to death! How would I do it?
How would I translate this painting on a completely different medium?
Some times I leave the book or reproduction open and browse it for a few days, trying to imagine the steps to develop the painting.
I feel that, in reproducing one of these works. I understand more about the artists, and their techniques, their manner of interpretation of a
subject, an some times even transport myself to their feelings. With each brush stroke, I study the angles, the colors, the subjects, etc.

I have learned from Degas' composition. The way he displays a subject amazes me every time I see any of his nudes. He captures his models from angles
that sometimes lead you to imagine that he must be watching from the ceiling of the room. Models seem casual, not just posing for a painting.

From Monet I have learned color. He is a master. You are transported to any of the landscapes by just seeing one of his painting. You can feel the warmth
of the sun of that lovely afternoon, smell the wildflowers, feel the relaxing environment of the day.

With Van Gogh I have learned not to be serious, to be in a child's mood and to relax. He painted creating texture with his fingers and a spatula, and that it is difficult to replicate on ceramic tiles!

In general, my biggest challenge is to interpret and translate from the original paint to a completely different medium. The paints used on ceramic
tiles do not show the final color until they are fired in the kiln. This requires a lot of previous testing and even with testing I found surprises after firing.
But I am learning to accept my limitations and just to have fun with my painting.
Check any of following the samples on Degas, Monet and Van Gogh paintings and let me know what do you think.

Share your Experiences
Contributions are very welcome. If you have tips or an experience you would
like to share, send us your story to be included in our next update.
When we talk with people that are remodeling, we listen to their stories and
very often people say:
" I wish someone had told me that ...before I started this project"
We all learn from our mistakes, but wouldn't it be nice to learn from the
mistake from others?

Tips for Planning your Art on Tile work.
1) Make an album with pictures from different magazines' clippings what
you like and you dislike.
2) Make a list of the elements and colors you may like to include.
Many paint stores give customers free color charts. Once you have selected
the colors you like, it is easy to go around with this chart to chose tiles,
fabrics, carpets, etc.
3) Set a budget.
