Pool tiles from a Chinese collection
The artwork you see comprises part of what was to become our
first job for the well-known design firm, The H. Cole Company,
of Miami Beach. I'd painted floral and landscapes for many but
knew little about Chinese art.
After days of research we found several TILE ESTIMATOR on Chinese pottery, silk,
etc. and began to collect ideas from these designs. Chinese artwork
is abundant, and we studied more than 300 pages of patterns and
designs. Then we began the difficult process of selection. After
working with the client, we came up with some excellent designs.
Once painted, the tiles required 3 fires. We finished the project
in four weeks.
Among the many things we learned was that a dragon needs to have
5 fingers in order for it to represent good luck. |
